becks
We live in Central London and have a front garden which is paved and singled. Since living there for the past 4 years we've had our window boxes and 4 very large plant pots stolen TWICE! So last year we reverted to having none and it looks horrible. We even put bricks and weighted down the second lot of pots to try to keep them but to no avail I tried doing the cement stuff where you just pour water on but it never seem to set properly and just ends up like soil. So my problem is that now the weather is getting warmer I really want to have the pots and window boxes again but definitely can't afford for them to be stolen again. So any suggestions as to how to secure them more firmly????
Lesley
Becks - how annoying! I think there is something which goes in the pot, through the drainage hole and into the soil - this bit is then concreted in. Your garden centre may be able to help - or Google it? becks
Think I may have a solution now - am going to buy some special outdoor glue and glue them down! It says on it that you can use it on breeze blocks so it should be pretty strong stuff!
kazaddress
I was going to recomend a large railway sleeper.. and bolting the pots to it (using the hole in the bottom of the pot) that way you get a nice affect too!
Cinnamon
We have 2 brick pillars on our front drive,& I got Brian to cement 2 large flower pots on top, which look great all planted up. However, someone last summer tried to whip them & when they found they couldn't,they yanked all the plants out & threw tham over my drive, then got a brick & smashed one pot I despair of some people.... becks
People are rotten aren't they. I did vow never to buy any more but our front just looks so bare without anything there so I'm going to give it one last go!
Aunty e
People are vile. The amount of rubbish that just gets thrown over our fence....last week I found the girls pecking at a used prophylactic wrapped in a tissue, that I can only assume came from our upstairs neighbours' window. They live like pigs, mind, so it probably seems normal to them.
Louise
Nice - not I am lucky and don't have that problem so have lots of pots but I am sure one day some toe rag will drive past and take a fancy to something Mind you i have had quite a few knocked off the wall and smashed so I don't know if it is the cats doing it by accident, the wind or something else
