fairy&cake
Ive been getting itchy feet to the point where they're almost sore with the burning need to Visit New York. I adore the place. The first time i arrived there, and got through customs with 52 of my friends [yes 52!] , i walked through automatic doors, saw a Yellow Cab and burst into tears. It had been my dream from about 12 years old to go there, and when i did, it didnt feel real. I immediatly fumbled around for my mobile phone, called my parents and screamed at the top of my voice: I can see a yellow cab! Im in NEW YORK! Its been 3 years this autumn since i was last there, and i know i am lucky to have visited, as some people are not as forunate. But i am desperate to go. Its like a true love for me. I love it. When i booked my last set of tickets to fly there, it was like falling in love, butterflies in my belly etc. You might think im sad, but i am so passionate for the place. I lived there for a while, and i miss it so much. Although, yesterday i had a fairwell lunch with a friend of mine who designs fabric for Libertys, shes moving back to London, and i said as soon as ive got ebough money, and i can justify it, IM OFF! KateP
I have only been to New York once, for a few days last year. It is a fantastic place. I said to my husband when we got back that I would go back there straight away if I could! I am desperate to go back there to visit as there is so much to do and see. There is just something special about NY? I loved the shopping, sightseeing and just the whole feel of the place. I know what you mean about it not feeling 'real' when you are actually there. I think it's because you have seen so many places there on tv and films. I keep showing him any offers of cheap flights and hotels that I see but I don't think he is taking the hint - or maybe he's just ignoring me! fairy&cake
Kate, theres is something in the air there. Thing is, i couldn't imagine going with Ross or Seth, mabe thats because its always just been me and my friends. I went to an estate agents in manhattan and the lowest priced placed was 1.2m dollars. However- i would LOVE a place inthe city.
Guest
Its one of those places for some of us. I always wanted to go there and I'd never had anyone to go with. Then I won a trip on the Christ Tarrant breakfast show! It was a trip for 2 and I still didn't have anyone to go with so we sprung for an extra ticket and I took my parents. It was a fantastic week - all expenses paid and £500 SPENDING MONEY! Dad adored it - it wasn't somewhere he'd ever realised he wanted to go (mind you it was the only time he ever visited the USA), Mum was indifferent. I've wanted to go back ever since but still the same problem, my husband wasn't remotely interested and I've never had freinds I holiday with. So last year I went on my own - just 2 days then back on the QM2. It rekindled the flame though and I just had to get back again this year. Mind you this time its just for ONE DAY! Out and back on QM2 this time, with Mum and James, luckily my day is my own again - Mum is still indifferent and is taking James to visit my cousin and his kids who are currently living in Brooklyn. Maybe next year it'll be a trip to visit the Brooklyn family then go across to Toronto to visit my friend who is living there. I know I'm going to go back and back - it feels like a second home. KateP
Kate, theres is something in the air there. Yes there definitely is. I've never been anywhere else like it. We went to Las Vegas a couple of months ago and although I enjoyed it, I don't think I would go back again now I've seen it. Although the shopping was a bit cheaper than New York though, I think it was something to do with the tax!
FORENSICA
To be honest I have a slightly different opinion on NY:? I liked the spacious streets and the customer service in the shops. That was fabulous. However I was totally disgusted by the underground system, especially by the dirt, darkness and homeless people lying about. I just spent 5 days in NY and I met so many weird people and saw strange stuff then I did here in London after being here for 6+ years. But maybe I was just unlucky. I think it made me realise how good we have it here in UK

Rich & Ange
I'm so excited you brought this up. Rich and I are hoping to go this November for a long weekend, without the kids! I am so excited, we are fortunate that two of our suppliers are based in New York, so our business will be helping us go! One of our suppliers, Steve nad his wife have offered to show us China town. Apparently his wife is an excellent shopper, so that should come in handy when looking for bargains, for the childrens xmas, obviously! Rich & Ange
This is NOT what i wanted to hear!!! [youll have a fab time, think of me working all hours while your away ) I know, sorry. I am just so excited, as we have never been. Our girls are 12 and 5. The 12 year old would love it, but our youngest is a bit of a live wire and has no patience so we plan to take them when she is a bit older. This is our excuse and we are sticking to it! Plus it will be nice to have a romantic weekend away.

Rich & Ange
If we go for longer we would have to take the girls, so it is just a quick whirlwind visit. Next time we will plan to go for a while as a family.
