Hubby brought home a cabbage and some celery that was reduced at the supermarket for the girls (and he tells me he doesn't care)

 

They loved the cabbage but I'm reluctant to give the the celery as its a bit stringy but I guess I could chop it up.

 

Has anyone given it to the chooks before

I have given them cooked celery as I thought it might be tough and stringy for them raw.

 

We boil up all our veg peelings for them then mix in sweetcorn or raisins as s treat.

I've given them celery cooked with other veg, and also raw but chopped really small along with the leaves, and they really like it.

i have chucked raw celery into the run and it disappears! Don't know where...

I'd be worried about the strings tbh.

I buy a head of celery each week, & I use up most of the outer stems.but the nice soft inner stems & leafy green bits are usually left over.

As its a head,it has a nice chunky bottom (like me!), so I hang it from a screw & chain from the pen roof - the hens love it
