Can anyone recommend an egg holder for the kitchen? I do not have enough eggs for an egg-skelter. I had a lovely chicken shapped ceramic container, which held 6 eggs - but hubby dropped something on it so its all broken. The place I got it from only had a couple pre-Easter, so I cannot replace it.

I got a gorgoues chicken shaped wire one from Cargo.

Try ebay as well - there are some lovely ones on there

you can sometimes get the chicken shaped containers in antiques shops, then it'l be a bit more unique than one that's in the shops at the moment. my dad got me a lovely dark blue one.

I got one of these for Christmas from someone that knew I wanted hens.

It holds about a dozen eggs, after that it gets difficult to put the lid on.

It looks pretty sitting on my windowsill, I can definitely see the advantage of having an egg skelter, I do have to rummage through my eggs to use up any older ones. (I use a soft pencil and date them everyday)

 

My mum has a similar one, I think she got it from a market. Have a look in your local charity shop maybe too.

We got ours from Omlet online. A lovely pastel blue on just like a ceramic egg box but without the lid! holds 12 eggs, we don't get that many but it doesn't matter, still looks nice.
