craftyhunnypie
Arggggh it's day 20 here for the eggs in the incubator - they are wiggling a lot & think we hear a really quiet cheep every now & then. But it's killing us waiting - how do you all cope waiting for chickies to hatch out? Can't wait to see the first pip! Some of you will remember the chicks from about 5/ 6 weeks ago - that are now in the turkey sheds at my sisters farm, still under heat. One was Christened Orville. Well I'm going to visit them later, so expect photo updates. I believe Orville the lavender pekin is doing the typical pekin shuffle now! Come on my little chickies get a move on & get out those shells! Emma.x
craftyhunnypie
Still wiggling about, the eggs are - not long now. Been to see the chicks at my sisters, now 5 weeks old. Orville the pekin is adorable & snuggles into a pair of fluffy bedsocks. Orvilles feet are ginormous and fabulously feathery. So sweet, but I wasn't allowed to put he / she in my pocket & smuggle him / her out. My sisters eggs are due to hatch Wednesday - friesian fowl & Marans. She will then have some Buff Orpington, Light Sussex & Chamois Poland Bantam eggs to incubate. She may also incubate some of her own eggs off her Amber Star & her Red star, as Roy the Vorwerk cockerel has been doing his stuff lately! Going bed soon, I'm hoping my eggs pip overnight! superjules
Oooh, pekin chicks - how fab! I bet you're going to get up in the night to check on them, aren't you!
xChicken04x
Oooh how exciting! If you whistle at them, it should speed up the process slightly, as a broody hen would cheep at the eggs to encourage the chick to come out . Good luck! How many eggs are there? xx
craftyhunnypie
No pipping as yet! But I'll be whistling a lot to them today. I guess they are saving their energy for the big break out, as last night they were really wiggling and today, not one wiggle. I've got my eggs in the RCom & my sister has hers in the Corti. She's not happy with the Corti, as you can hardly see the eggs in their & she enjoys seeing them wiggle & pip. You can't really tell if any have hatched until you hear cheeping. She is thinking of seeling the Corti & buying a different incubator, either another RCom or a Brinsea...any recommendations other than the Rcom 20? craftyhunnypie
First chick pipped a mega large hole at about 12.30 and has fully hatched at 1.20pm today!!! It's a Cobar, bought from Wernlas & it is beautiful! It's crawling all over the other eggs and cheeping sweetly, but I'm leaving it in to fluff up until probably later tonight. It will be alright won't it, as the other eggs haven't pipped yet! Emma, the chickie mummy!!!

craftyhunnypie
Thank you - it's hard trying to peel myself away from the incubator & get some lunch, knowing that there is a little chick upstairs. Hoping for some little friends for it now!!!! Emma.x

craftyhunnypie
Picture of my little chick is in another thread - Meet my chick. We have called it bumble as it has faint little whiteish stripes on it's back, like a bee. We think it's a girl from what I remember about the colourings in Cobar chicks (from what I was told), but if it turns out a boy, it will be Mr. Bumble - which also sounds nice! I have since seen that SuperJules has a chook called Bumble, hope you don't mind! Hoping Bumble gets some friends soon today! Emma.x

craftyhunnypie
Countrywide stores sell them, We bought ours new off ebay - from a poultry supplier ebay shop. Think P & T Poultry??? Most places sell them just type Brinsea RCom into google. Highly recommended & so easy to use! Emma.x
