koo2cat
Today, one of our chickens (Margot) "caught" a medium sized frog . She was extremely pleased with herself and clucked loudly which then made the others come over to see what the fuss was about. She was determind not to share it and was chased around the garden for a good ten minutes by the others - the funniest thing I have seen in a while! Things then got a bit heated between them all so I asked my husband to remove the frog (I'm a bit sqeamish of reptiles myself!). I am now wondering if Margot had managed to eat it would it have done her any harm? Our garden last spring was full of tiny froglets so they are bound to pick them up. Any frog eating advice welcome please!

HasSumAmi
They often eat frogs. That is so YUK!! Two of mine were having a right argy bargy over a giant black slug the other day. How much of what they eat passes through to their eggs do you think? People say if you feed them corn or brocolli then it affects the yolk. What if they eat FROGS!! superjules
Mine go nuts over snails. I try not to think about it when I'm eating the eggs!
Blackrocksrock
I had a look under the bucket with the sad rhubarb (jealous of Egultines!) to-day and its up half an inch of pink stuff!! There were 3 slugs - small ones and I took them to the run and they loved them - I love them for eating them as I hate slugs. Dont think I could cope with a frog though. craftyhunnypie
Christian & myself love frogs (NOT)!!! I was worried there would be a photo of a chook with frog in its beak. Best place for those frightening amphibians! But I have read that frogs & toads are becoming a big endangered! Thank god I cry.. no more tip toeing in the driveway on a rainy day to dodge the frog!!! craftyhunnypie
Well we walked to the shed place today & hubby ordered HIS chicken shed!!! Best bit is it's actually a large childrens play house & even has an upstairs bed area and ladder inside with handrail!!! Spoilt chickens! It will house a good lot of chickens. It is being adapted to house chickens. For starters it's not having the fake chimney pot!!! It's coming beginning of May, so it will be just right to put the growing chicks in under heat, when they are too big for the brooder. With this & the eglu we are buying off a fellow forum member, we will have a great set up...new chicken shed & the eglu will be the introduction coop/ getting used to the outdoors coop for the chicks or even the naughty coop! Eventually - I'm hoping it can be the bantam house. Really excited now, about the new chicken enclosure! Emma.x

lws
I am glad i came across this posting, as i spend all weekend digging the gaden, we revealed several mini frogs which the chickens gobblled up, much to my poor sons horror. They followed us around as we dug and ate an unbelievable amount of worms. I was actually worried they would overdose on them, seriously, my two greedy hybrids must have had in excess of 30 worms each in one day. I assume this really isn't a problem is it?
