Sarah B
Hi All, I'm getting over a very nasty chesty flu virus. I have heard chickens can catch colds is it the same thing with human flu type viruses? I havent been near them till today and I'm not picking them up. Abbey Road Girl
Hi Sarah, I understand that we are more infectious in the early stages of a viral infection, that handwashing before handling would be helpful and that there is something (citricidal?) that can go into the hens' drinking water which would help them fight off a virus. Someone more authoratative will be along to correct or expand on this. Speedy recovery!
Sarah B
I'll bung some Citricidral in the water whilst the finger pecking T-Rex wannabes are currently forraging. Thanks.
Cheshire Chooks
Chickens and other animals are by and large are not susceptible to the viruses that humans commonly suffer from. Don't worry. Similarly it is extrememly unlikey that an avian virus would affect a human, otherwise for instance most of South East Asia would have bird flu by now!!!
