The Managing Director
So this is a new one to me , our lovely Flint is obsessed with footballs(really he just has to hear one bounce and he forgets everything he's ever learnt and disappears into the distance only to return with now useless football ) the only thing that comes even close to be a suitable alternative is a tennis ball . It has to be a real tennis ball though, the cheap and cheerful ones you can get specially for dogs are frankly useless, we use up 2 per walk even if he doesn't let someone else pinch them So he has quite happily played with real tennis balls but this week someone told me they had heard that there is a poisonous coating on tennis balls and you shouldn't let a dog play with them anyone else heard this, he only plays with them on a walk then I hide them otherwise you find them 'skinned' all over the house. Just wondered though would hate to think I was quietly poisoning the dog

Chicken on a mission
Just did a google search just in case and found no signs of any thing on tennis balls being bad for dogs. On the contrary, many well respected sources have recommended them.
Lesley-Jean
This site contains a list of things dangerous to dogs. It includes tennis balls but because they can be popped and then presumably ingested

Guest
Just did a google search just in case and found no signs of any thing on tennis balls being bad for dogs. . I did a google search and found nothing too, but my friend seemed pretty sure of her facts and is not one for scaremogering ,it was something to do with a new treatment on tennis balls and I have a box of slazenger balls which do say they have a more water resistant coating so wonder if it could be something to do with that. I might see if I can track down an email address for slazenger and ask them, shall let you know if I hear anything your link was good Lesley-Jean, when you read through that it's amazing any dogs make it to adulthood isn't it
