chickencam
I have had my Fastbake breadmaker for nearly a year and quite early on the non stick around the paddle started to come off. More recently more of the coating has come off on the rest of the tin and I have been getting black streaks in my loaves from the paddle spindle wearing I think. I clean it really carefully each time it is used but i was not happy about what was going into my bread from the tin. Yesterday the pan started leaking water too, so I rang Morphy Richard's this morning and they are sending me a new pan and paddle under the guarantee, and they were really helpful. I suspect I am not the first. I know a few of you out there have also got this breadmaker and wondered if you have had similar problems? Jules.
Interesting. Mines a MR, but has "tradidtional long loaf" written on the front & has 2 paddles, so I presume it's not quite the same as yours. Good customer service
Janty
MR are excellent. My iron went on the blink a few years ago and I called them for advice, saying that I knew that it was out of warranty but did they have any suggestions as I thought that I had changed the filter incorrectly. The lady said that they would send me a new one as it was a design fault and she was surprised that I hadn't had problems sooner. She took my details and told me to throw the old one away. I always buy MR where possible now as I know that I can trust their customer after care services completely.
Lesley
Our MR Fastbake has just started to do the same on occasions - but it is older than yours so I thought it was just wear and tear....... ....perhaps I'll give them a ring.....thanks for the info. Louise
Mine is fine but I don't use it as much as others probably I have had it a couple of years and the paddle has a couple of scratches on it which I have done trying to remove it from the loaf But nothing else is wrong with it I shall watch out for it though
Lesley
We get grey streaks - we only use it for up to dough stage though so we just pick the grey bits off before shaping it to bake
chickencam
I was really impressed, I only rang them on Friday morning and the new pan arrived in the post yesterday Looking at the new one I can see what has happened and it must be a design fault. The paddle sits on a notch in the spindle which sits in a silicone seal which must wear so that the paddle then rubs metal on metal. The new one fits into the breadmaker more firmly and doesn't come loose during the final knockdown knead which the previous one did. I didn't have to unlock it before taking the pan out which with this one I do. My only complaint is that the paddle is very floppy and falls over when you are filling it so i have to remember to put flour in the side that holds it up first. It will be interesting to see how long this one lasts, I will try to remember to oil it inside before each loaf, like it suggests in the instructions. I have forgotten this morning but remembered yesterday. I use mine at least 6 days a week sometimes twice in one day if we are running low on bread, or want a fruit loaf. Much better than the Prima one I had first which had to have 2 replacement breadpans both of which I had to pay for about £15 each I think, and the loaves would never come out. Leaving the loaf in the tin on it's side on a cooling rack for 15 minutes after cooking like it suggests in the instructions, really works for getting the paddle out, but don't forget about it, set a timer, because they go really soggy after a while
mrs chook
Hi I have same one and was going to suggest ringing them but i see you have. Did you follow initial heating instructions too? I seem to remember reading something in the book re first use Also maybe wipe the non stick area with a tiny amount of veg/sunflower oil to coat it before adding bread mix???? Good luck with this one
