Janty
Does anybody else have a problem with their chickens and bbqs? Ginger Spice pinches meat from the bbq...pork being her favourite. It got so bad yesterday that I had to put her inside the run as she was leading Emma astray and the pair of them were trying to grab a burger. The rest of the chickens just go about their normal business of destroying the garden and the bbq doesn't seem to interest them.
Laura & CTB
I always shut the girls in the run when I've got the bbq out - usually because I'm cooking chicken and I dont want them to see
Nicola H
Mine always pinch food from the BBQ they also jump up on the table and steal food from our plates............I have learnt to lock them in the run when it is BBQ time or we don't get any peace, they are allowed out after we have finished and always get the left over salad but they do love meat. Janty
It's funny. Only Emma and Ginger are bothered. The rest leave us in peace.

Ms Tilytinkle
Helllo there, we've just had another BBQ, we've had one every night this week as weathers been so good. Our chickens have no idea that we're having a BBQ . .ie that we're having food . ..i wonder if they associate it to you giving them food, do you feed them from the table when you sit or do you just have very curious chickens. Ours wandered up to where we were , foraged a bit fairly close to use but basically ignored us & went back off on their circuit around the garden. But, if i get up & walk towards where i usually feed them which is away from our food area they immediately stop what they're doing & all run after me!! They associate me walking in a certain area to food, but they've never eaten anything from us anywhere near our BBQ so they have no association to food . .or is this just too logical!! and not at all chicken logic I must admit i've been so pleased they haven't bothered us as i love our peaceful BBQ's even the cats don't come anywhere near as they've never been fed from the table either. ooh bless you, hope they soon forget & go back to THEIR nibbles or BBS's may become a bit of a free for all ( well all being naughty BBQ loving chooks MsTilylovescreamteasbutthewaistlinewonttomorrow
Janty
No, we don't feed them whilst we are eating at the table. I even squirt them with a water pistol when they get too inquisitive.
Stevie
I have to either lock them in their run or stand guard otherwise they'd nick everything on the BBQ and then have chickens on fire running round the garden which wouldnt excally wet your appetite... TheCoop
Ours showed no interest at all when we had a BBQ earlier...

cluckbok
We haven't left ours out of run whilst cooking on BBQ in fear of them getting burnt!! But we have let them out once it's off and we are eating and one of them jumped on the table after our food. I promptly got her off but she did it again and then we legged it inside!! Won't be doing that again. But worth just testing the water, now we know they are crafty little monkeys eh!!
