Chicken Poo - Lots of it!

Recommended Posts

Have had the girls since last Friday and I have to say they are pooing for England, with some really lovely runny mustard offerings

Is this normal? Have decided to cut out treats for a couple of days to see if this helps and I also ordered some Bokashi Bran yesterday.

Does the bran just reduce the smell or does it also reduce the quantity

Any advice would be very welcome

I must admit i was quite surprised at the amount of poo  i would love more chickens one day but 3 in the garden is enough poo wise having to clear it every day. If i get more i will double/treble the size of the run and keep them mainly in that!

Takes a few weeks for it to all settle down. Mine pooped and squitted like crazy for few weeks and I had to change the poop tray every other day (now it's just once a week).

The poor little things have to settle in, they've been transported, probably eating new pellets as well as other new things in their diet like grass, slugs, bugs, flies, treats you give them etc. They will adjust soon.

Garlic powder is a good tip, doesn't get rid of smells but will make a difference. Buy it from a horse supplies shop (as they feed it to horses too - same stuff). Eg. NAF brand about £5 for 500g tub and I'm still using my second tub after 1 year.
