mrsm_jones
Anyone got a solution here? For a while now, Kiev's eggs have been found on the roosting bars and quite often broken or cracked. I thought she was being a bit careless when she got out of the nest and was kicking them out. Found out today....I had a sneaky peak at her while she was in the nesting box. The dozy bird was in frontways, with her bum over the roosting bars with another cracked egg underneath her What can I do to make her go in with her bum on the nest facing outwards? Egluntyne
Erm....... No idea. Maybe you could turn her round a couple of times and see if she gets the message. Or hang up a picture of Gregory Peck or some other hen heart throb in such a way that in order to see it she has to sit the right way round. Just kidding. mrsm_jones
Thanks Egluntine! You're usually such a font of useful knowledge that I may actually give that a try!

Roxanne
The dozy bird was in frontways, I had exactly the same thing today Michelle, two eggs wasted - one cracked in the nesting box and one broken on the bars - I bet my silly chicken did the same thing! Mind you, it was in the ex-batt house, so maybe she forgot where she was!! Having changed the hay in the nesting box on Monday, I had to do it again today!! ubereglu
How about putting a piece of cardboard in the eglu to add an extra side to the nestbox? When I say this I mean the side of the nestbox which faces the right hand side of the eglu.
Flo
I can't offer any advice but this reminded me of how my old cat used to climb into his litter tray only to poo over the side and out onto the floor! I could never get cross at him as he was so old!
