Goosey Lucy
They'll need someone to look after them for the wekend at least... If only I had the room I wish we could keep them at school but I'm not sure we can afford it. Would Omlet sponsor a school Cube do you think? *Grabs at straws desperately*
The Dogmother
You can but ask Lucy....
Goosey Lucy
If I didn't know better, I'd say you were leading me astray! But I've always been easily lead! I'll keep you posted about when they're going to arrive, that is if the rest of the PTA agree to spend £245 for the kit. Sounds like a lot of money for just 12 days! Jules.
I went the James Herriot museum in Thirsk a few years ago & there was a display there showing chicks at various development stages in the egg, & I remember feeling quite uneasy looking at it. bronze
That is a lot of money Anyway 12 days? I think I'm going to be doing a hatching project at the playgroup in the village. They'll have to wait until I have space for more birds though so they'll have to wait til 9 weeks before the latest lot are despatched. Goosey Lucy
12 days because they are delivered on the Monday, hatch Wednesday/Thursday, and are collected the following Friday. I'm now starting to wonder how much an incubator would cost. Apparantly the school wouldn't just use it with the two Year 1 classes but let other children within the school follow the hatching process. The Dogmother
You'll also need to build in the cost of a brooder, lamp and feed.
bronze
Plus if you don't do it through that company who takes the chicks?
Goosey Lucy
Maybe one day when I've enough space to keep the resulting hens I'll do this myself, until then I can only dream. Oh well, never mind, there's still the possibility of having them for a weekend, maybe?
