What a racket!

Recommended Posts

Following on from ANH's thread .... this is a link to the racket two of my girls were making this morning. By the time I had got the camera out they had been going for a good thirty minutes. I think I shall try and avoid the neighbours for a while

This is actually quite quiet as normally Carmen joins in too, but I think she had already worn her voice out earlier in the morning. Bron (white star & top chook) is the one in the nest box. Agatha, who looms into view is the least tuneful of the bunch and is the one who had been really going for it for sometime even though she has absolutely no intention of laying an egg (we've had one this week already, which is about her lot  ). Strangely they suddenly get camera shy.....

I think we'd better be careful with all these noisy chicken videos - we might be putting off potential chicken keepers  . "Chickens are quiet" indeed  .

I quite agree (as she hangs her head in shame listening to the racket that is working its way through the double glazing  ).

Seriously, out of my 10, I would say that 3 of them have the 'habit'. So I guess 70% of chickens are quiet :liar:

I had this same thought. Mine are quiet 99% of the time, but occasionally they all go for it just like the clip in this post and I immediately think of the neighbours. I think it is a nice, natural sound but then my neighbours might disagree (except my sister who lives next door and is not allowed to... ).

Mine have been free ranging all day today from 7.30am till 8pm. Not a peep except...... for 7.15am ....... on a Sunday....... so I let them out of the run going against all I ever said about keeping them in the run to eat their pellets like good girls until at least 10am. I never take my own advice
