I'd like to buy a cheap metal bin.

 

Mostly they are galvansied metal (like Oscar the Grouch uses!)

 

Where have people bought theirs?

 

I've seen them in Homebase and they are £27 sounds expensive for what they are?!

 

I will probably use a bungey cord thingy through the lid handel to the sides to keep the lid from getting knocked off or blown off.

 

What do people use and how much should I expect to pay?!

you did well, i looked in Wilcos at lunch (not a big store our local and all I saw was plastic.

 

I assume that plastic wouldn't be rodent proof?

Plastic is not always rodent proof.

 

You are better off with metal...and something to secure the lid, either a boulder to weigh it down or bungee thingies.

 

I got my bins from a local ironmongers for £16 each.....and he carried them to the car for me.

Councils often gave them out and people have them sitting around, try freecycle thats where i got mine

Hi Angel, I have the second one. Both the same name but not the one with the pedal. I like the fact that the bungee holds the lid handle too, not sure with the pedal bin .

I think a 20 kg bag might not fit in the 16l bin, you will need the 40l one. It then fits perfectly!

Happy shopping...I so wish I had another excuse to go to Ikea

Thanks Gael, 40 litres it is then, I've spotted that it says recommended for indoor use only, how long have you had yours? Has is rusted as I guess it's not galvanised?! Prettier though than plain metal.

I've got the same one 40litre. I keep mine in the shed and so far it is fine

 

I'm not sure how it would cope with being left outside.
