Am really worried...

 

I've just been out to the girls and noticed that Maisie and Rosie have got bulges low down they seem to be on one side. Are there crops full from eating all day or could it be be impactions?

 

Please help...

Probably full from eating all day. Check them in the morning and if they're still full and bulging, they may have impacted crops. I bet they'll be nice and flat like deflated balloons by then though. Good luck.

Probably just cos they've been happily stuffing their faces all day! By tommorrow morning,they should be empty.

I am panicking as I've not noticed it before, maybe they've just pigged out more than normal today? I really hope I'm being over reactive! Gonna be a long night...

Sometimes my girls have very large crops at night too when they're far more noticeable than usual but they've gone down by morning. Try not to worry yet. Worry in the morning if they are still enlarged but they will be fine .

Thanks Kate. It still all feels very new and I really want to do the best for the girls. I did see both Rosie and Maisie popping their heads through the netting earlier to get some bluebell leaves, so fingers crossed its not them.

They don't tend to eat anything which is going to do them any harm so don't worry. They're not as silly as they look . You should see Jenny some nights when she goes to bed! She looks like Jordan with her huge chest .

Well they're both STILL eating! You're right about knowing what not to eat. They haven't touched the buttercups in their pen and I know they aren't good for them!

I agree with Kate.Often,Sage my Pepperpot has gorged herself so much-her crop looks like its been inflated with air,but its all gone by morning.Shows they have a healthy appetite!

Also to put your mind at rest, I think they should be ok, mine are like that at the end of most days and by morning it's gone. Suppose what the greedy little monkeys eat has to go somewhere! When I first saw it I thought "oh my god ". It bulges to one side doesn't it. Just check them in the morning.

It does bulge to one side. If they've got full crops and I've not noticed it before does that mean that I've not fed them enough? I am still hanging on to the fact that they are just piggies!

 

Just been out and had a 'word' with them about frightening their mum and to be good girls and digest it all before the morning! Haven't mentioned about laying eggs, the crop thing will do!

lol what a coincidence, i was panicking a bit as Amber had a huge lopsided bulge but she is a pig and gets most of the food!! Nice to know everything probably alright.

How are things this morning?

I did manage to get some sleep last night - albeit fitful!

 

When I went to them this morning they were fine - Phew! I picked them both up and they seemed to have smallish lumps but nothing like last nights! Hubbie-to-be had let them out at around 5.30am so I assume that the lumps were from there crops filling up. I didn't go to them until about 8.30pm.

 

Have given them spaghetti for the first time today - hilarious, the hentertainment was excellent, still smiling now when I think about them running round with it hanging out of there beaks!
