Both of my 3 year old hybrids keep falling over and can't stand up properly. One of them seemed a bit poorly this morning before I went to work, but they are both now completely hunched and if they try to move their legs seem to give way. Have made an appointment at the vet for 5.30pm.

 

I got 6 new girls at the weekend but have kept them separate from the older ones so hopefully they won't get whatever it is.

 

Feel a bit upset.

Sorry to hear about your girls. It sounds as if a visit to the vet is a good idea.

Just back from the vet. They were so poorly that they've both been put to sleep. He thought it was either something neurological or a tumour. They couldn't stand on the vet's table at all.

 

Am trying hard not to cry.

Trying hard not to shed a tear too, its such a shock when you visit the vet fully expecting a diagnosis and simple treatment only to be give the worse news

You poor thing, what a shock and how terrible for it to happen to both of them. Chickens are so good at hiding illness until it's too late, I hope your new hens go some way to making things better
