Tigerlily
Does anyone know? I bought 2 5kg bags (they arrived on the 2nd May). As my chickens don't arrive till this Sunday, plus I've been on holiday I didn't check them... and when I did they had gone mouldy and the bb date was the 20th May!!! Should they have a longer shelf life? BW

Tigerlily
I didn't buy them from Omlet!!! (just want people to know it isn't the lovely Omlet lot to blame ) It was another company- I thought it wasn't on too! BW x

superjules
That's really bad. They've obviously been stored wrong. I would expect to find a bb date of at least a month ahead when I buy a sack of food as that's how long it takes my chooks to get though a bag. surferdog
I was going to say 'Forever because the chickens won't touch them' BUT sounds like you are being ripped off. Complain! Very loudly. There is no way a few pet chickens would get through that amount of pellets in such a short time.
Tigerlily
Just to let everyone know... I emailed them today- I got a very quick response and apology, they will send some more (in date this time!)! Karen at Pimlotts poultry is my chicken supplier, so she is very kindly bringing some food for me on Sunday to buy (when I collect my girls), so my chooks won't be going hungry! TAJ
There is always a use by date (due to vitamin & supplements content going off) - usually 3-4 months, but I have to say I do always check the date before I buy - its OK for someone with many chicken, but when you only have 3 and the sack lasts 2 months you cannot afford for it to be short dated.
