AJuff
We are thinking of having a lean to aluminium greenhouse between our new proposed extension and the end of a pation wall. The long part would be east facing and the ends run north south. It would have sun all morning until around 1.30pm when it would be round the side of the house and won't reappear until 3pm. Is this enough light??? Or should I reconsider. Also can the sunlight pass through two sets of windows to reach it later in the afternoon? Guest
i'm no greenhouse expert but ours is round the side of the house and gets about the same, if not less, sunshine than yours and the toms in there have gone bezerk!
Snowy
I'm no expert but it sounds like the best type of position - the morning sun will warm it up and it should stay fairly warm then for the rest of the day. Better than not getting any sun until later!
Valkyrie
Sounds good - don't forget while it is in the shade it will be more comfortable to potter in there. I go in ours and come out gasping sometimes - not today though, rubbish weather!
AJuff
I am so excited by the thought of a new greenhouse that I couldn't sleep last night for thinking about it!! How sad is that?
Valkyrie
Not sad at all - it's a lovely haven to look forward too - and it's nice on colder days - much warmer than outside.
AJuff
OH built a panel to fence of the hens area of garden. It has a pop hole and the eglu is butted up against it. As the eglu has moved down there is enough room to fit a freestanding 6x8 greenhouse. As it's in the garden and visible from the kitchen OH told me to get a nice one!!! So I did . . . a lovely red cedar Gabriel Ash one!!! OH hasn't asked the price yet!
chickencam
I love my greenhouse, we have a north facing garden and the greenhouse is in the bottom corner so it is effectively south facing but it has got a fence on one side and the house does shade it at certain times of day and also there is a large ornamental pear tree in front of it which also gives some shade. It is just about the right conditions for a greenhouse. We went to see a friend of ours last night who has a swimming pool with what is effectively a large double glazed greenhouse over the top. What a waste of a huge glass space
