chucknette
Hi I hadnt thought of the Farnborough air show, I only live in Yateley but right next to Blackbush airport. We do have private jets and helicopters flying over head and had the odd plane fly out this way from the Farnborough show. It doesnt seem to bother them too much but I do appreciate the noise will be a lot louder where you are. If anything they all stand still with a look of what the hell was that.!Chickens do have the ability to get used to things so hopefully after a couple of fly overs they may be OK fingers crossed
Abbey Road Girl
Oh dear! It was only after I had ordered my Cube and chickens that I remembered that there are at least two big fireworks events very close by each year. However, an elevated motorway is just behind my back garden, so the hens seem to have become used to all sorts of loud noises. Only occasionally will they all raise their heads in alarm. You might want to consider putting out a portable radio near their run from time to time, gradually increasing the volume, so that they become used to varying levels of noise. I would also keep them inside as much as possible during the air show or see if someone can give them a temporary home then. Good luck! bronze
We have low flying aircraft around here ona regular basis. Fighters and carriers low enough to see the whites of the pilots eyes. the girls don't seem to be at all bothered.
Christian
We have a military airport a few miles away and the chickens occasionally stand still and look up, but aren't unduly bothered by it. I used to live in Farnborough and they do make a noise don't they? Maybe keep them confined to the run and give them a corn on the cob to keep themselves busy. Must remember to get that day off work. The M3 is a nightmare on the public day! All the best
chelsea
we are under a flightpath here (admittedly not very low flying aircraft)no notice taken, our chooks dont seem to be bothered by anything loud - lawnmower, thunder and lightning they just ignore it. Guest
We have the RAF skimming the roof of the house most days, and some nights in tornadoes, and the girls don;t bother their little fluffy bums about them. Never have, although after very busy flight days, we are often treated to double yolkers...

Chuckov
When we used to have horses, whenever we were expecting some loud noise, (mostly from next door, who illegally bought display-grade fireworks for their garden fireworks party ) we always put the radio on high volume in the stables - always worked. Do you have a winter cover you could put over the top as well - and, as the others have suggested, a few distractions!
