Chuckov
I've just bought Clean House, Clean Planet and am trying to get my "Ooops, word censored!"nal of greener cleaning materials together. Bicarb - tick Borax - tick White vinegar - tick Liquid soap ????? bit stumped! Having read some more of the book, I am assuming this is different to (for example) Ecover? And it doesn't mean the sort you get to wash your hands with because that has blatantly got SLS in it? Anyone out there have the book - can you enlighten me as to what exactly I'm looking for? Thanks!
Lesley
I use the Ecover washing up liquid for the recipes in that book.
Egluntyne
Dr Bronners unscented liquid castille soap is good. You can get it online.
Chuckov
Excellent - I assumed the Dr Bronners was an 'American' thing which we wouldn't be able to get here! Which 'smell' do you use, Egluntine? Lesley - I have a 5 litre 'vat' of Ecover in the cupboard under the stairs, so to use that would be my preference, but can you definitely use it OK because I am sure she talks about washing up liquid as being different to liquid soap? Although soap is soap I would have thought?
Lesley
I suppose it depends on which recipe you're using - I make about threee from that book..... and can't remember what their proper names are.....I'll check.
Egluntyne
Which 'smell' do you use, Egluntine? I mainly use the Unscented one. There is a peppermint and a tee tree, and a lavender, all of which I love, the first 2 especially for the bathroom.
The Dogmother
I like that Castile soap too. I make my own ant-bacterial soap t keep by the kitchen sink - it's just some Bio-D washing up liquid and a few drops each of tea tree oil and lavender oil. Smells lovely and it's very mild too. Personally I prefer Bio-D products to Ecover in most cases. It's cheaper too. Stocked at most Oxfam shops. http://www.naturalcollection.com/natural-shop/Bio-D.aspx

There was a bit of a clue with the 'unscented' in your first message about which one you used, wasn't there!!

I didn't know Oxfam stocked green products - but then it's been a while since I have last been in - obviously time to look again!
The Dogmother
They're doing more stuff like that - Sheila would be the person to check with.
abwsco
Dr Bronners unscented liquid castille soap is good. You can get it online. Have never heard of this Are they moisturising Egluntine? Also, daft question but do you use it "as is" for soap or dilute it. Myself (not too much) and youngest daughter suffer from excema we currently use L'Occitane but I'm always on the lookout for something better. Thanks
The Dogmother
It's really gentle Anne. I get eczema too and find Faith in Nature to be brilliant. A friend can get me Aveda products on discount, so I sometimes get those too. Anything without SLS is fine for me.

Sheilaz
They're doing more stuff like that - Sheila would be the person to check with. Thanks Clare, I saw your post about Oxfam. Yes, our shop stocks this range and the washing up liquid, laundry liquid & loo cleaner are selling particularly well. Not all branches will stock it, the larger ones are most likely. Always worth taking a look in an Oxfam shop though, Emma. Our new products range changes throughout the year, and our donated stock changes daily! The Dogmother
Thanks Sheila - our local Oxfam is tiny and only sells a few products and is somethimes out of stock. If I can't get ti there, then I go to the one in Stratford on the corner of the market. Lesley, Arujo Organics in Deddington sell it, and Ecover refills too. I don't see it on their site, but there was some in the shop last weekend.
