Ain't Nobody Here
Hi Summer and welcome to the forum . Sorry, I can't really help with your problem. I think sometimes they just take a break for no apparent reason . The broody one won't be laying anyway but maybe you could give them some limestone flour to improve shell hardness? Hope they all start up again soon!
Egluntyne
Maybe the change of pellet isn't suiting them. Is there any particular reason why you changed? Welcome to the forum by the way.
Guest
Is there lots of feathers blowing about the run? They may be moulting, and they tend to go off the lay when they are moulting. A calcium boost may help - some baked crushed egg shells, or oyster shell may do the trick.
redhotchick
Welcome Summer! How old are your chickens? or how long have you had them? One of my hens is very skittish and hates any change in her routine Her egg laying gets a bit sporadic. Perhaps they don't like the food? Are they eating it? Maybe some chicken spice or tonic would give them a bit of a boost. Are you feeding them chicken grit? I can't believe how much of it mine eat! Christian
Hello SUmmer and welcome to the forum. Make sure they are eating their pellets and cut back on treats.
SUMMER
Hello I don,t want to sound to naieve but when people put crushed oyster shell in there house/pen I assume you just put it in a bowl? At least the broddy one layed an egg thats 2 out of
..lay a little egg for me
I put it in a bowl at first but the dimwits tried to balance on the edge and tipped it over! As I was moving the house every couple of days, they quickly moved out of range of the spilled grit/shell. So I got a coop cup that hangs on the wire of the run and put a bit in that. So now it moves with their house!
