chooklady
This is Spencer, my 3.5 year old Giant Schnauzer I am planning on getting some chickens some time soonish. My dog is pretty laid back but has anyone had any problems with introducing dogs to chickens. Any advice greatly appreciated. Nicola

Becka
I have two German Shepherds and they co-existed with my chickens very nicely! To be honest, they were more interested in eating the chicken poo - yeuch! Becka
Ain't Nobody Here
What a great dog . Real show dog pose . I introduced my dog on a lead - he was very interested (especially in their bums ) until he nearly got a peck on the nose. Now he keeps a wide berth! Seagazer
Spencer is a very handsome chap! I had trouble with mine mainly because 1st time free ranging some silly person who will remain nameless opened the door and the dog came charging out. I sometimes let her out on the lead with the girls out but she is completely obsessed with them. I'm going to start upping the time she's out there with them as they are very scared of her. So its a balance between getting them all used to each other and stressing them out. My cat Dave just ignores them now so we're gradually getting there. Good luck, just do it in stages, you'll soon know if your dog is going to be okay or not.
