Do Hybrids go broody?

Recommended Posts

They can still go broody, but mostly have it bred out of them. Hens act differently when broody, but mostly they are glued to the nest, looking like a feathery pancake and may be grumpy if you disturb them. There's a broody thread in the FAQ section of the forum http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=239

You'll find answers to most of your questions in this section, but don't hesitate to ask if you don't :D

Kentucky, one of my Pepperpots went broody last summer.

I placed frozen blue ice blocks in the nest box, replaced them three or four times a day and booted her off the nest and closed the door when everyone had laid.

She wasn't best pleased, but she did snap put of it in about 4 days.
