Vermex+Diatom+Redmite powder

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I've had my girls for nearly a month now and haven't wormed them as yet. I was wondering about the best way of going about it and how to make sure that they all get the correct amount.

I've also got some diatom and wondered where its best to use it.

As for redmite powder - I've squirted it over the roosting bars but nowhere else as yet. Is it ok for the diatom and redmite powder to be mixed if they come into contact with each other?

I think I might have asked these questions before but can't remember if so and where the replies are!

Diatom I mix in with everything, food, nesting material, dustbath, it's great stuff.

I don't know much about verm-x as I don't use it. I worm using flubenvet every four months or so and it gets mixed in with their food, so they all get the correct proportion. As they always have ACV in their water it may not be necessary to worm them as often as I do, but it makes me feel better!

If you possibly can, once a month, just before dusk, pick each hen up in turn with the red mite powder ready.....I put some in a shallow container, then dip your fingers into the powder and put under the hens' wings and around their vent. Like others, I also put re mite powder into the net box and shake around the run where they dustbathe. But I feel I still need to powder each girl once a month for safety. Good Luck.

So. I put the Vermex in with the girls food and what do they do? Ignore it! Not one morsel have they touched! They know don't they...?

Hmmm, must now put thinking cap on as to how and outwit them!!!:roll:

Mine gobble it up pretty quickly! As you give one scoop per bird every day for three days you could try pushing the granules into some grapes or perhaps adding poultry spice.
