We've given FIL our order and hopefully he's making it today with omlet and we'll hear when our delivery date is :):):) Not sure he really feels our excitement though, so I'm just hoping that DH managed to put it across that we're really impatient

Even better though, we've asked him to add in a couple of extras (the netting and a run extension for when we're away (getting 3 chickens and they won't be able to free range for a week when we're not here :( ) and for until we get our fence up to scratch. We said we'd pay for those bits as they're big extras that aren't entirely necessary but he said 'Hmm...we'll see' which means that he won't let us pay him back which means we have the money to fix the fence properly and sooner :)

Oh sooooooooooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D

I'm very glad that everyone on here understands

Just got home from work and DH has told me that FIL has called and our eglu (purple :) ) and chickens (3 gingernut rangers) are arriving on 19 June - only just over 2 weeks away :):):)

Now we have a list of things to do:

Secure the fence

Decide what bedding to use and get hold of some

Get a metal bin for storing the feed (are they all as expensive as our local Countrywide Farmers are? £79.99!!!)

Think up some names (although with three little girls in our house, I imagine they'll all have disney princess names  )

Make a countdown calendar for our daughters (well, I'll say it's for the children, when actually it's for me  )

Oh great news about B&Q - will get down there sometime before the edd.

We live near Stroud so I've emailed the Auboise company to see if we can collect direct as there don't seem to be any other suppliers locally - Countrywide Farmers say they don't stock it any more. Does it work out expensive if you're also using it for the run (it'll be semi-permanently placed and on clay soil so not very good for drainage!) or can I get away with woodchips or straw (both of which I have a ready, free/cheap supply of!) or do I need to experiment?

What a dunce I am! DH just told me I misheard him completely even when i checked - the dustbin at countrywide was 17.99 not 70.99! So will go back when they're in stock. I thought it must have been made of solid silver or something at that price, but turns out I'm just a bit deaf
