Who has a polytunnel?

Recommended Posts

I looked at purchasing a polytunnel but they were huge!!! And long. I don't have the space for that so I've opted for a 6x8ft greenhouse. I have heard polytunnels are very good but I'm sure someone on this forum had one they thought was too big in their garden. I'm sure someone will be along soon to advise.

I'm really excited about growing more. How sad is that??

We have a polytunnel and a fruit cage. OH loves it. At the moment we have peppers, cucumbers, squashes, tomatoes, lettuce, mixed leaves, etc. in the polytunnel.

In the fruit cage we have raspberries, rhubarb, various other berries, leeks, peas, beans, radishes, etc.

If you want to have a chat about it call me... can't remember if I gave you my mobile number or not. I will pm it to you if you want,

The growing area takes over nearly half the garden and my girls have the other half.

We used to have a 10 x 8 polytunnel from a company called Citadel - they are based in Stratford and still advertise in gardening mags. We had ours for 10 years before we moved and it is still going strong!

It is amazing how much extra you can grow and how long you can extend the growing season. We've always grown our own winter salad leaves.

Now we have a Keder Greenhouse which I've mentioned before. It is a cross betwwen a greenhouse and a polytunnel. It is absolutely brilliant!!! We have a large size but they do start at quite a small size for gardens.

We used the protective tape on the original polytunnel - you cover all the metal frame with it and it protects the polythene. It certainly did for us - the polythene has a guaranteed life of 5 years usually (I think)
