Glen66
Hi all I've just picked up another 3 chicks, but didn't notice until I got home that 2 of them have a funny claw, it looks something has grown over the toenail/claw. Is this normal? Glen
Paola
Can you post a pic Glen of the feet in question?

cluckbok
They are cute! just like the others. Can't see pic though of claw, not working on my computer. Looked at them on cam.

cluckbok
Can see it now. Looks like dirt or something stuck to her foot. Could it have been from the bedding where you got her from? Either that or perhaps it will just fall off in time. See how it goes, the other one was alright wasn't she. Don't know that much about feet. There's a programme on now on More 4 on exbatts, Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall. We watching it.
Snowy
Yes it just looks like a little mud ball stuck to her claw. Easily removed if you soak in some tepid water first. Stand her in a bowl with about an inch of water.
Cinnamon
Mine get that - I have to give them a little pedi every 6 weeks or so. Soak it in warm water (wear OLD clothes!) first if its very hard.
Gamebird
Mine used to get balls of dirt and poo on the end of their toes when I kept them confined to their run for fear of another fox attack. Now that they free range protected by electric fencing I have found that the morning dew on the grass keeps their feet clean and dirt free. superjules
Looks like a clump of mud to me too. As Cinnamon says, give it a little soak in warm water to soften it and it should come off easily.
