I have Martha who is a noisy hen anyway, sprinting round the garden with a slug in her mouth screeching her head off because the others want it too!

 

If she kept quiet, they probably wouldn't notice, she only draws attention to herself

Mine do that too. I'm always telling them to keep quiet when they find something exciting but they just have to show the others, don't they! Never a dull moment, eh .

My "Beanz" did exactly the sale thing yesterday on their first free range evening! Its so funny isn't it

 

It was a really nasty dried up slug too! ran aroung making the most awful noise was really worried about the neighbours as they have been so quiet till now! and the other three were in hot pursuit!

When i rake the wood chip over each evening they all come rushing in digging around for worms!!

 

....to be honest, i'm sure they're just boasting that they found a big juicy slug!!!

I gave mine a bowlfull of leftover new potatoes (cooked) this evening. Mo dived in first and grabbed one, then ran off with the others in hot pursuit. All except Spice who got stuck in to the bowlfull while the others played potato rugby

One of mine got a small newt the other and she's the biggest and most dominant but the others all launched on her at once - she kept it though!

 

What I don't understand is how they manage to make so much noise with a mouth full of newt

I love feeding my girls spaghetti!! Katie is the quickest off the mark, with Henry in hot pursuit. Charlotte used to seem a bit slow, but I've decided she's actually quite smart. She lets the other two chase each other round the garden and stays close to me while I drop bits to her

 

Newts? on a par with frogs. Chickens are so disgusting!!
