Do you use beer or lager in the pub?

 

Can you give the girls the slugs once they have died?

I've heard they prefer bitter. The really cheap stuff £1 for 4 cans stuff is good.

 

The little so and sos got most of my corgettets this year, and my daughters pumpkin which she had grown at school.

We have noticed the difference between the back and front garden since we have had the chooks. The back is much less damaged than the front

I have just ordered some Nemaslug.

 

Its a solution you water in. It is packed with biological slug hunter destroyer beasties called nematodes that kill slugs above and below ground apparently.

 

We are going to carry out the dandruff shampoo style test.

 

'We washed one half of the allotment in new medicated Nemaslug, and the other half was awash with pellets' kind of thing

 

I will let you know if it is any good. It should come today hopefully in time to rescue my broccoli.

 

As far as the slug pub thing goes, I would brew my own beer the yeastier the better! It would be a lot cheaper too.

Kev, you have to make sure you keep the ground moist when you use nemaslug. Shame we live in such an arid desert

Just a quick update!

 

The slug pubs work a treat, we used cheap beer from co-op

 

I bought 3 hostas at the gardeners world show even though i know slugs love them and we placed a pub next to each plant. After just 2 days they needed emptying as they were full of dead slugs.

 

They left this world drunk and happy so i dont feel too guilty!
