Bokashi bran and garlic

Recommended Posts

I will be getting my girlies in a few weeks and I am wanting to add both these things to their layers pellets and have a few questions please.

Shall I add them both to their pellets from the first day I get them?

What is the amount of bran/garlic that I should give them in ratio to pellets.

Do I need to add oil or anything to make the bran/garlic stick to the pellets?

Thank you

I dont use bran, but i do add garlic powder to their food-2 scoops (measure supplied) per 'grub' container.I spray that sunflower oil for cooking first so it sticks to the pellets otherwise it ends up at bottom of 'Grub' container.

Ohhh I have one of those sprayers, great idea. I was going to buy my garlic from my local horsey place, it is £3.75 for 1.25kg which I thought was a good price, there isn't a measure with it though...how much approx would you call a scoop, a teaspoon full?

I told my mum about putting garlic in the feed to stop the poos smelling and she wondered if it made the eggs taste of garlic...?

I add 2 scoops (about 2 heaped teaspoons) per Grub and cannot detect any garlic flavour in the eggs.Helps reduce poo smells though!

I am a recent convert to bokashi bran. I've used it for a month now and it's massively reduced the amount of poo I am dealing with. I put 1 scoop of bran to 9 scoops of pellets (10%), mixing it up well using an old baby milk powder jar. I read the quantities somewhere and others probably use different amounts.
