Our cherries must be ready.......from where I'm sitting, I can see 3 blackbirds and a pigeon flapping about in the top of the tree

 

I'd better go and change my flip flops for wellies and see if I can rescue any

Oh dear I hope you manage to rescue some, Lesley.

 

My mum has a cherry tree which appears to be a good cropper.......from the amount of cherry stones left in the garden Thing is, I live three doors away and the birds go onto my chimney to eat them, so I get them in the fire grate too

We didn't get many cherries set this year or last and those that did were eaten by slugs. We have a net which we put over the tree which is against a wall once the fruit is set and the slugs and snails crawl up the wall

 

We had loads the year before that. We have hardly got any plums either this year, the weather was a bit iffy when the blossom was out and we had a big crop last year so we would have had less this year anyway I think.

Our plum crop was so havey last year the the greengage tree split in half It has survived and is in leaf but we haven't got much in the way of fruit on any of the plum trees either.

 

We have three cherry trees - and quite a bit of fruit on them.

I planted a small cheery tree last year, of the 3 cherries on it the birds have had 2

- the big cherry tree is.........big! - we need a ladder to pick the cherries - I don't think we'll get a net over it

 

I have eaten half a dozen cherries off the small tree though

A 'cheery' tree - I LOVE that! Cherry trees make me smilem because they are so beautiful in the spring when they are in blossom, and I LOVE picking cherries and eating them straight from the tree. We've planted 3 in our back garden this year!
