I am going to eggsplode with eggsitment

Recommended Posts

Seriously, my orange cube is due next friday and I am so excited I may actually burst.

I am even considering getting an extension so i can have more chooks, but I think I should wait a while.

If I got an extension in a year and more chooks can they be introduced without beating each other up?

I have marked out the space that it is going to go with wooden planks and i keep looking longingly at it. It is the only bit of the garden that is lovely and shady, my dd's are so excited as well they keep telling random strangers and showing them the picture of the cube that we carry arounbd in our bag with us.

I really have lost the plot, Does everyone get this, I think he last time I was this excited was before i had my dd's.

Hi

I am so excited for you!

Doesn't time drag when you cant wait for something to arrive.

As to getting more chooks in the future, you will have to go through the introduction process.

I kept mine separate but in site of each other and put their feed bowls each side of the fence so that they fed near each other. After about two weeks I took the fence down and they did square up to each other but nothing too serious.

They still slept apart for another week. Then about nine in the evening when it was dark I went and put the orignals in with the newbies and they all slept together. They were all fine from then on.

Hope this helps :D

 Please don't burst - it will take Kate forever to clean all the mess off the forum!

I know what you mean though - you are not alone, I was just as bad when waiting for mine

Things to do when waiting for your chickens:

1 Visit a farm park with lots of chickens (just for some practice)

2 Read all the forum

3 Place chair by the space where the run will go and practice chicken watching

4 Start to collect chickenalia

5 Buy country smallholder magazine to get you into the right frame of mind to be a poultry keeper

6 Start thinking about names (it's a much more serious operation than choosing baby's names you know)

Have fun! 8)

I think you should ring Omlet up and add an extension to your order now!! Then ring up a local breeder and reserve another four lovely chooks. You know you want too . . . . .
