Can you write on eggs

Recommended Posts

I do :D

name, date and weight

Me too....it gets worse...:oops: ...I have a spreadsheet I enter all the eggs into and it tells me average egg size and biggest egg size for each girl, and how many they've laid....it also tells me the price per egg based on the initial purchase price of the Eglu - I'd got it down to 51p but then bought the Cube so it's shot back up to about £1.75 per egg!!

On this basis my 16 eggs so far have cost about £53 each :lol:

For keeping them in the right eating order, I haven't come across a better investment than an Egg Skelter!

I didn't think I would be too pre-occupied with recording statistics of the egg-laying but now you have all mentioned SPREADSHEETS!!!! I may have to organise myself one of them!!

(I don't have the chickens yet!)

And me! With spreadsheet!

Hmm.. yup I do this too but thought it was to early in the thread to confess to it  sure the novelty will wear off and do also want an eggskelter as think they are fab but haven't been able to justify it so far.. think it may have to be a birthday request!

I now know which chickens lays which egg.

I mark each egg in pencil with the name of the chicken and the date it was laid.

I also have a monthly spreadsheet detailing each chicken and how many they have laid, what weight etc.

Each chicken is colour coded so I now have a colourful monthly pattern off egg laying.

I thought I would stop doing this when the novelty wore off but I can't seem to give it up. I think I am addicted.

Me too. name, date and weight. I don't think DH could understand my wrath when he boiled 2 of that days eggs without letting me weigh them first. He should have used the older ones anyway but then again they're all so fresh it didn't really matter but now I have a gap in my spread sheet
