I noticed a lot of the stalls on the market last week were offering tasters - you could cut the crusts/ends into cubes, spread with lemon curd and offer them as your taster pieces 8) And the last lot of jams and chutneys I bought from a farm shop were £3.50.

Not heard of nelson's cake, but you could also make truffles from the cake ends, bit of melted chocolate, cherries, nuts & maybe some rum. Squidge together into balls & roll in vermicelli. Put in cake / sweet cases.

If the cake was extra good & big - I would pay £4.50 for it. Plus the eggs are free range - how many cakes do you know of with free range eggs in the supermarkets? They would make good birthday cakes & people could always decorate them with icing if they were madeira cake. Come Christmas, you could take orders for Christmas fruit cakes, ice the with roll out icing & use your chicken cookie cutter to cut out chickens from the icing. You could dust them with gold or silver edible powder. Just a thought!
