Has anyone else seen the new Macdonalds advert, done in the style of Waitrose's 'everyone deserves quality food, etc, ' one?

You'd think you were watching an episode of River Cottage for a minute.

Trendy families, digging their allotments together.. then they announce that they are proud to only use British beef and 'farm assured chicken'!

It's laughable, but the sad thing is a lot of people actually fall for this kind of slick marketing! Am I the only one who finds companies using the 'free range/green/eco warrior/fair trade/ethically assured, etc, whatever' label as a selling tool?' Trading standards should clamp down on companies who are so misleading.

I've seen it and I think its dreadful and utterly misleading.

 

Talk about jumping on the green bandwagon..how on earth they have the audacity to portray themselves as caring about animal welfare, what tosh.

 

I've probably said it before but my children call Happy meals "unhappy meals" because they know its not free range chicken (and no we do not eat in McDonalds!!).

I havent seen it, but the green 'thing' definately seems to be the trendy thing to be right now. Hopefully when the next big 'thing' comes along people wont forget about the green and incorperate it into thier lives in general.

And by saying "farm assured" chicken it cons some people who dont realise, they might think farm assured means free range.

 

Most chicken these days is farm assured anyway, it just bugs me when companies jump on the bandwagon trying to trick people.

 

The shopping channel Ideal World did this once in one of the meat hampers and i e mailed the studio really angry!

Eveytime I see that advert it makes my blood boil, do they really think people are that stupid, it is aimed at me and my family and it makes me so angry.

I saw it for the first time a couple of days ago. I actually said to the family "this must be for washing powder or something" (kids getting muddy etc ). I couldn't believe it when I realised it was Madonalds . I was yelling at the telly .

Maybe we should all write to the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority)? They do listen to complaints. I'm sure McD's have ticked all the boxes however, to show that it's not actually misleading, it's just 'an impression'.

I know Maccy D's are pretty awful but at least they aren't as bad as KFC - don't McDonalds use free range eggs?

That's what it says on the side of the pantechnicon that pulls up outside the McDonalds opposite where I work. Apparently they all come from one farm!!??

 

I think all advertising should be banned, it's all a con!
