We are in the middle of preparations for the chooks - building a shed and a run. When we laid the base for the shed we realised that we haven't really been in that part of the garden in the rain for a while and it is quite muddy when wet.

Is there anything I could do to dry it off before the run is finished? I am thinking about putting down grass seed or even wild bird seed to grow and soak up the wet and to put something green in there for the girls when they arrive.

I will most likely be using hemcore when it is up and running.

Does anyone have any advice for me?

tried digging in some dry top soil or compost ?? try a gardening book for some tips and cover the ground when its raining to help keep it dry . but the hens will love all the new shoots if you do put seed down and the bonus is , it'll be good for them . :)
