It dosen't help that I started with Plan 1 an Eglu on the lawn and had run shaped no grass patches even when I moved it every two days! 2nd plan: dug up almost all of left hand side border and transplanted everything to the bottom border to put eglu on there with chippings and log roll. 3rd and FINAL plan Bought Cube dug out everything from bottom border transplanted all beck into left border re log rolled left and bottom. My Garden & lawn whats left of it now resembles the somme! friends & family cannot belive that I would sacrifice my one small but pristine borders and lawn to the girls especially as my children were not allowed ball games or anything which would damage my plants!! But he ho thats addiction for you I have just resigned myself with such a small garden the Cookies come first!! Errm been dropping little subtleties about downsizing from 4 bed now only one at home havent mentioned bigger garden though he he I will post some pics but its not pretty! I think I'm limited to what I've got, sadly, unless I replace the eglu with a cube . Do your girls live permanently in there or do they get out to free range? The reason I'm asking is that, sadly, we're faced with a major decision. We went on holiday recently, and the girls went to friends. Since we've come back I've actually found it quite relaxing not having to worry about my active and mobile 16 month old in the garden (what he's sat down in/trodden in/just put his hands in etc etc etc .) We now have to decide whether we take the girls back and restrict them permanently to their run (which might come as a shock to them as they've always free-ranged before now), or whether to build a much bigger run (and sacrifice a much larger part of the garden to their scratching feet) or whether to leave them where they are (in the company of several other chickens, free-ranging in a large field) - the folk who are looking after them have said they will buy them off us, and let us have a dozen free eggs every week.......but I miss them......
