After much wailing and howling, my little Pepper laid a lovely little mini egg yesterday afternoon.

 

What a racket preceded the laying though! Good grief - I couldn't work out what was wrong with her, me having almost given up hope of ever seeing an egg from the girls!

 

Please tell me that the build up to the egg laying gets quieter as they become more used to it - I've told the neighbours that they'll hardly hear a peep out of them!

 

Well, just wanted to share my news - called my husband in the middle of a meeting yesterday to tell him! I know he was secretly pleased behind that fake irritation in his voice at my interruption!

 

Feel like I'm a real chicken eggspert now!

Congratulations - it is so exciting getting the first egg. And I was just as excited yesterday to get my 1st egg from my second girl

Mine don't make any noise - well not that I can hear - apart from a purring noise - so sweet

 

They have been laying now for about 2 months and I still get excited when I look in the nesting box. I expect the novelty will wear off at some point - maybe in a few years' time.

My girls are much quieter before laying than they used to be - they must be getting into the swing of it now. They still enjoy a brief, but loud, BOK! afterwards to tell us what they have done
