Tiggy
my poor sister forgot to put the cover over her outside run & her 2 rabbits escaped, she found her big buck - correction his head - in next doors garden, we presume it was bitten off by a fox ~& the rest taken - her little female mini lop is OK, my poor sister was so upset
hils78
Oh man - what a horrible find. I would suggest getting the little doe a new neutered boy from a rescue asap to stop her getting lonely. Can I suggest Honey Bunnies in Narborough - Jill is amazing at bonding rabbits & hers always are neutered. Hope your sister feels better soon
Tiggy
thats a good idea, here old fella was a real bully, I have never heard a rabbit growl before, he was very protective of the little doe & would often bite my sister. She aquired both rabbits from neighbours who were moving & were going to leave the rabbits behind to fend for themselves my sister is such a softpot she even put up with the aggression from the buck, its a wonder the fox got anywhere near him, the little doe was hiding near to where my sister found the remains, may have been protecting his friend again I'll have a look for a young neutered buck for her - sister & rabbits are gomming to stay with me soon how do rabbits get along with cats & chickens? MedusA
Oh no! Poor bunny. Poor sister too, Tiggy. Good idea to get a new rescue bunny as a friend for her girl. I have vowed only ever to have rescue bunnies in future.

bronze
Maybe she survived because he was so aggressive. Would be good way to remember him. Hope she finds a lovely new boy soon
Ain't Nobody Here
Sorry to hear that - what a horrible thing to find .
bethany
That's awful, I feel so sorry for your poor sister. My rabbits run round the garden with the chickens and the cat and they all get on basically fine, but my rabbits are as big as the cat and he's a big softie so I'm sure if it always works so well. However the problem I have found is that the chickens prefer the rabbit hutch and get irritated with the rabbits for being in what they have claimed as their own so I've had to separate them for that reason as I worry about them not being able to get in their hutch. I'm lucky enough not to have any foxes, thank god.
Tiggy
poor sister found the rest of her bunny yesterday at the bottom of her garden, it does not seem to have been eaten at all, so we are wondering now if a dog just bit its head off, prob not a fox this time
FruitandNutCake
Probably a fox - they don't always take the rabbit away. And foxes are more likely to be out at night - although they are often also around during the daytime. I've had a fox on my patio and under a nearby tree during the daytime. Tiggy
this would have been during the day, foxes are such a pain
