petite70
Is anyone leaving the cube door open during the evenings and just closing the run door? I have 8 hennys and 6 of them sleep in the nest box the other 2 sleep in the main bit and i'm worried with the rubbish weather we are having they may get a chill if i leave it open, however i would like a lie in on the weekends and dont want to leave them in till 7.30 am ish! Liam
They'll be fine - yhet're pretty hardy! Loads of people mleave the eglu or cube doors open. Mine are better with it open, then they are happily feeding whilst I sleep!!!
cluckbok
Hi ya, We started leaving the eglu door open about 3 weeks ago and so far it's working well. They won't get cold in this weather they will be fine. Our girls have been ok. We will however close it when the winter comes as the mornings will be darker anyway. Enjoy your lie ins we do! Egg Lou
I did plan to leave door open but since getting my girls have not yet been brave enough to actually do it I am lucky though as so far I've been letting them out 7/7.30 in the week but not till 8.30/45 at weekends so still get my lie in! Egluntyne
I leave my doors open. Even in winter.
SLK69
Yip I too leave my door half open on the cube - when the exbatts first arrived they were happy to be let out anytime - but 10 weeks on there was to be no sleeping for anyone after 6.50am - way to early for a night owl like me - so the decision has been made, the door will stay open and they will harden up as the weather turns - unless it gets really wild and then I will bring them indoors for a cup of hot choclate and a chat. hahhahaha
hennymom
we are going on holiday soon and there is no way my teens will get up to let the girls out at 7am so we have been leaving the door half or slightly more open and they are fine!!! it's worked a treat
petite70
Thank you all for your replies - think i will leave it half open and see how they get on!!!
alih
they will love the independence! We only shut our eglu door if it's bitterly cold in winter but otherwise leave it open and they are up and about long before us..
