AJuff
I have been slowly introducing my four new chooks to the others. They have been living in separate eglus for well over a week. Tonight i let them free range together for the last hour of the day which all went well. I left them to it and when I returned to close them up for the night there were 9 hens in the green eglu and 1 in the purple eglu!!!!! I looked in on them and they were all cosy together. Later one chook moved out into the purple. 8 in one, 2 in the other.
quickcluck
That would have made a really funny pic!!!! Can't help with how many should be in there though, but they were obviously comfortable!
Ain't Nobody Here
I suppose if they've got the choice, they'll decide what's too many . Is that a record, I wonder ?
AJuff
I think I'll bring out a camera tonight!!! It might be interesting to see how they fit!!
AJuff
7 in the green and 3 in the purple eglu. Do you think they prefer green? Also a lady that I know from work got three marans a few months back. She told me this week she is not really taken with them at all and is thinking of rehoming them. Would I like them if she does? She took my phone number just incase she decides to . . . . . . . Seeing how they all cram in together by choice would 13 hen be too many????? Willow
I have 5 in my eglu and they huddle up so much I often think you could easily get another 2 or 3 in there !
Lesley
We have had 10 in a Mark1 Eglu - they did have the choice of two Eglus Seven in a Mark2 will be fine as long as you have plenty of run space for them.
Yolky
Last night I wasn't in to tuck them in at half nine like usual when it is still a tiny bit light so when I went out there at half ten it was very dark and when I did my usual of opening the eggport for a smooth they were so huddled up I thought that they were missing my heart skipped a beat!
