Lapinou
Do we expect an egg every day or so from the chicken that laid today? Or are there long gaps between eggs at first? Also, what time of day do they usually lay? We get very over-eager about checking the next box over and over all day long - do they only ever lay in the morning, or is it random?# Thank you, lovely omleteers! Snowy
If you are lucky, she may just get straight into the swing of it and lay you an egg a day, usually for a few days, getting slightly later each day then have a day off. Then she will start again early next morning. Sometimes they are so regular they lay early every morning for months on end before having a day off. Sometimes they take a few weeks to get going and will have a few days off before laying the next one.
Lapinou
So 'expect the unexpected' seems to be the answer then? Blimmin' chickens - they're like children! Why don't any of them read the books telling them what they should be doing at what time???

Lapinou
Ooh I remember those from when my parents had chickens - and the ones that feel like bouncy ones.
Stevie
If memory serves me-it takes 25 hours to create an egg so the laying time will get later and later each day. Mine generally lay everyday for around 2.5 weeks with the latest egg being laid in afternoon then they take a day off.Its all back to normal again following day.
