chelsea
Have a great week, we are off in the tent too, but down to Cornwall. So you should be fine, heat wave in the north , torrential rain in the south west!!! When are you going? we've been basking in sunshine here for a week or so, friend just came back from Polzeath and lovely down there too (swimming in sea/blue skies etc) so I hope our weather holds for you. Tomorrow!!! Going to Padstow so fingers crossed. x I've just checked the local forecast - dry and sunny weekend and long range is warm and humid for the rest of july with pleasant sunny spells and the occasional shower (but they said it would rain here today and is hasnt!) I think you are going to be lucky!! have a great time.
Rona
Biccies, crisps and little cartons of juice. Might be fully catered but there's bound to be time when one of you fancies a little nibble or a midnight feast! Have fun
Olly
ooh, lucky you - I love camping and haven't been this year. Echo most of the above - windbreak and folding chairs make life much more comfortable, and warm things for the evening; pillows; Crocs or wellies for that early-morning dash to the loo. Tubtrugs have about a thousand uses! The campsite I go to has electrical sockets in the loos. Probably not permitted, but I get up early, take my mini travel-kettle and boil it up, and then have a cup of tea, no fussing with gas cookers. I would not use a candle ANYWHERE inside a tent, but outside they are good for keeping off bugs and making the evening fun. Games, especially ones you can play without much light. That handwash stuff that doesn't need water is useful. A torch that can stand on one end, so you don't have to hold it. Oh - and just a small tip - when you're getting undressed in the tent, either turn the torch off or lay it down, otherwise you'll give a marvellous shadow play to anyone walking past! We spent ages last year on a camp-site in Barcelona, trying to work out exactly what the young couple in a nearby tent were doing!

Jules.
Keep 'em coming, they are fab! So far from your suggestions I am going to put my big picnic waterproof backed blanket on the floor of the tent for a bit more insulation Take kitchen roll ( & toilet roll ) Snacks & bottled drinks for midnight feasts with Ethan I don't have a windbreak, but we do have folding chairs- mine is from the patio set, Ethan's is a Spiderman one I have some citronella garden incense sticks that I will take, plus insect repellant. Yesterday I went to buy a camping lantern that i had spotted a couple of months ago in B&M for about $4.99, which had an insect repellant thingy in it- they have sold out now, so we will have to do with my red maglite ( bought for me at Christmas by hubby to match the then red eglu so I could lock the hens away safely in winter!) My crocs are defo going, & my pink flip flops. I don't think that my tub trug will fit in the car I have an airbed now. On the site there are flushing toilets in a portacabin thingy, & showers, so even though it is a farmers field for the rest of the year it's not basic. There is a marquee where we all eat too! I have some hand wash waterless gel- one in my bag & one in Ethan's spare clothes bag, plus small packets of tissues & baby wipes. Olly's tip about turning off the torch or anglining it when getting undressed is a good one , & was given to me on the pre-camp info sheet! I'm taking my mum's little travel hot water bottle, her hair dryer & litle picnic blanket, as my big one will be in the tent. I bought a little dustpan & brush yesterday for 99p to keep the tent clean! Ethan doesn't want to take his football We'll take our big red woolly Ikea blanket for the chilly nights. Books to read at bedtime. Suncream. I always pack a little medicine box with plasters, insect bite & antiseptic cream etc,

Guest
how far from the toilets will your tent be? Think about having to trudge all the way to the loos, in the dark if it's raining. And then remember the bucket tip
Jules.
Hee hee. I've decided against taking the citronella incense sticks- there's probably a camp rule about no fires/burning. So I'm taking the little spray bottle that I use for the hens run which has citronella & eucalyptus oil & water in it. I've also got travel wash & some pegs for hanging clothes off the guy ropes. I've packed enough clothes for the whole week without me having to wash any, so hopefully that will suffice. There is a washing machine & dryer at the farm we can use, so I've also put in some washing machine tablets- there may even be chickens
Guest
Hee hee. I've decided against taking the citronella incense sticks- there's probably a camp rule about no fires/burning. usually only because they scorch the grass. The last one we went to allowed BBQS as long as they didn't burn the grass. We had little citronella candles. I wouldn't worry about taking the incense sticks. Or you could get some candles which would double as a nice glow if you sit out in the evening?
