Patridge bantam chicken poorly foot?

Hi everyone,

 

My pepperpot has just come into lay. I was just wondering what experiences others have had with expecting the next egg after the first one has arrived - will she continue to lay almost every day or may there be a gap??

Very excited about first egg - looked so cute in the frying pan this morning as it was 3/4 the size of a medium supermarket one, which I understand is not a bad size!

Didn't you weigh it

I have been weighing all mine since they started laying and it's great to see how they've progressed. All the data goes on an egg tally from ANH.

Now is that sad or what

No I didn't! Not sure if I can be bothered to be honest but a nice idea

You'll probably get an egg every 2 days or so for a few days until she gets into the swing of it.

I never thought about weighing them! My 3 haven't started yet but I think I might treat myself to some digital scales tomorrow

Like Jackiepoppies I weigh and record all our eggs. I know that today Ivory our Pepperpot laid her 100th egg, her first weighed 43.5g laid on the 4th April and today's weighed 68.2g

 

Initially she tended to lay for two days and then had a day off but now lays almost everyday, other than when she was broody and had 10 days off

 

Friends who we have given eggs to say that the Pepperpot's eggs are their favourite, the largest and have the best taste

My Freckle laid her 1st egg then missed 1 day and has laid every day since, Ginger has laid every day since she started.
