quickcluck
Hello all knowing Omleteers! I've have 6 girls about 19weeks... we have had a small brown speckled egg from day 1 from one most days..... there are 2 possibliities... Margo the fenning black as she has the the largest comb, followed closely by Penny a Coral Nick.... I have spotted Margo in the nesting box a few times.... yesterday and todays egg is the same size.. 35-40g but no speckles!!! Are they from the same girlie? Also shells are thinish, I am OK to add oyster shell/limestone flour for calcium if the others girls are laying??? There is no crouching going on......... Any ideas??? thanks
moochoo
I would think you are right with Margo laying a speckly egg. It wouldn't hurt to offer them all some grit or limestone flour mixed in with their pellets. Quite often their first eggs are thin or soft shelled so it may not be a calcium deficiency.
