EileenH
Our two lassies arrived early this morning with a gorgeous young man who set up the eglu etc. They`ve settled in straight away and the ginger one came to me when I called her! Purely a coincidence that I was waggling a bunch of dandelion leaves through the mesh wasn`t it? I wanted to call them something cute and witty but OH hated every name I had thought of so I said he should name them. Can you believe they`re called Blackie and Ginger? Oh well. Just one little thing, I made them a nice dust bath of a cat litter tray with sieved dry compost and they keep eating it! Is that normal? Anyway, must go! I have serious chicken watching to do! ChirpyChirpyCheepCheep
Hello EileenH Congratulations on your new lassies. . . I like your chickens names. Can't answer your question about eating compost, if you hold on a minute or two someone will come along with an answer. . .
daj198
Hi, Congratulations on getting Blackie and Ginger! I'm glad you're enjoying them already and I'm sure they appreciate the dust bath. Don't worry about them eating the compost, I filled a washing up bowl with dry compost and they dustbathed in it, throwing all the compost around the run, and then started eating it. Just take it as a sign that they're having fun! (rascals! ) Any photos would be good
surferdog
Congratulations Eileen Don't worry about them eating the dustbath. I fill mine with a mix of silver sand, compost and DE and they always scoff the lot. No ill effects so far
