Patridge bantam chicken poorly foot?

I usually add my bokashi and garlic to the chooks layers. However I have a scooper and I am sure it is because she likes the bokashi best so is scooping it to find the bokashi. Anyway I bought one of those little pots that hang off the wire to put grit in and I put some bokashi in to this and the girls scoffed the lot so I am thinking that I might stop adding the bokashi to the layers and just give it to them this way...they seem to think like this that it is a treat and scoff the lot. I think this will mean that they will eat more of it than they would if it was mixed with the food....is this likely to block them up poo wise or anything? I hope not as I think this will be a much better way of getting bokashi into them and means I don't have to worry about adding it to the layers and faffing that way.

I tried and they love it man!!!! Have emptied 2 of the little cups that hang from the run... now I am wondering how much i should make available for them, as I dont want them to fill up and not eat the layers pellets...

 

maybe it should be a afternoon treat...

Glad it works for you too quick cluck. I have been able to take out the cat tray I had under the grub since I did this as they don't scoop any more.

 

I use one of these http://www.flytesofancy.co.uk/acatalog/Plastic_Galley_Pots__3_.html and I fill it about half way or just under for my three, I do this once at lunch time and once at tea time.

I sprinkled some of the bokashi around on the run floor, just a small handful and they enjoyed scratching and pecking around for it. Anything to help with the poos!

I got the Bokashi Bran Layers Mash rather than getting mash and bran and mixing them - does anyone else do that? If you do - do you give them the BBLM as it comes or do you mix it with something else?

 

I am thinking of making mine last longer by mixing the BBLM with ordinary Layers Mash . . am I over-complicating my life?

i have those exact same pots!!! Will give them 2 a day then arvo and evening, as dont want them to be too full for pellets!!

 

Good idea about spreading it about will try that from tomorrow!!!

I'm not sure how much they can have without it having any ill effect on them! But I give mine a heaped teaspoon between 2 chooks in their Pellet Porridge, or you can shove it on top of the treats it all goes down the same way! And their poos are nice and firm apart from the odd one or two.

 

Maybe one of the Very Experienced Omleteers will be on in a mo to give us advice about rations

We need Egluntine. I only sprinkled a small handful on the run floor for them to peck. What I normally do is just put couple handfuls in each grub section.

I think that should be OK cluckbok, it probably equates to about the same amount I'm giving them.

 

I tried chucking it into their pellets when they were little but they wouldn't touch them but I haven't tried that recently.

Mine are on ordinary layers pellets but I give them a scoop of Bokashi layers mash in their run to scratch around for every morning.

That's a good idea, I may try that as it will keep them occupied and get the bran down them

I mix about two tablespoons of Bokashi in with about 4 of layers pellets for my girls and just give it to them in the Grub. That's if I can get it to the Grub before Ginny does a power jump and knocks the lot out of my hand and all over herself!

 

I'm not sure exactly what the right ration is - come on egluntine - let's hear from you then!
