millymeerkat
Hello, tried searching for this, but results were coming up for chooks, so excuse me if I am missing something. My rabbit Dexter is going through his teen years and is starting to thump when approached. Every day since I have had him, I spend a good 20- 30 mins every evening grooming him, playing with him and just getting him used to me. He's always been friendly and playful up til now. He's being castrated in about 2 weeks, but in the mean time I have been trying to feed him treats to reassure him I am not a threat (as they say to do in all the books). Even when I leave the treats in his hutch they are left un-nibbled. I've tried carrot, cabbage, apple, rabbit drops, expensive organic natural treat sticks etc and he isn't interested. Is there anything that he might find irresistable? Aside from the handling, I like to think I can treat my pets once in a while and it upsets me a little that he doesn't want anything!!! Btw, he had dwarf rabbit nuggets to eat and he enjoys them, eating the right amount etc. Any adivce gratefully received! x
clootie
Apparently they love banana - but just a little bit as it's quite sweet and they do have a sweet tooth or two! Good luck!
alexgirl73
my bunny loves the sweetcorn cobs you get from the petshop Also one or two grapes and peas in the pod. He also adores broccoli and dandelions (plenty of those in my garden )
millymeerkat
Thanks for that - hadn't thought to try the corn on the cob ones, but I have seen them in our local pet shop. I'm getting a little (only a little) reluctant to keep buying things that he just isn't interested in as it's becoming quite wasteful. I have grapes and brocolli here at the mo so will try them before spending any more of my pennies! Thanks ever so much!
