Stealing sweets from babies!!

Recommended Posts

At the weekend we had friends round with a 3yr old child - who went out in the garden with a bag of sweets (big mistake), Phoebe chased him round the garden for several minutes dispite cries of "make her go away!!", then stole a sweet from his hand and chased him down the steps, making him fall flat on his face I had a slient chickle to myself whilst prising a cola bottle sweet from Phoebe's beak  Needless to say chickens are not going to be his favourite animal (he was alright btw, I'm not completely heartless!). I had just put a post up last week about how much I love Phoebe, she is such a cheeky character :D

I also had no idea how much 'fun' can be had by shaking and flapping the omlet netting with the girls inside. No kids myself but I've had severals friends children play with it. Hours of fun. Girls not too chuffed though! However I do LOVE it when we then go and find any eggs the girls have laid. The joy on their faces when they hold a warm egg, then tell them they can have it for breakfast. Children and chickens... so entertaining.

My lot aren't proud, they'll steal anything from anyone

Hope scrounged toast from the lovely neighbour who was watching them, Joy took part of a biscuit from a work friend, Daisy stole one of my snack-a-jacks (and then stood there doing the baby-bird because she wanted more :D ) and there was, of course, the famous occasion when Joy stole Fat Puddy's dinner . They very much work on the principle of 'what's your's is mine, what's mine's my own'!

My brother's children helped choose names and always ask about 'their' hens and want 'their' eggs :? . They and the chooks get along very well with each other, but I've no desire to keep the children

We have had builders here not so long ago and I looked out of the kitchen window at lunchtime to see them sitting having lunch surrounded by chickens hoping for share of whatever was going. One of the builders was waving something at the chickens, it looked like a flag. On closer inspection, I could see that he had just finished eating and had made a flag out of the packaging and had attached it to a stick and was merrily waving it in front of all my chooks little faces.. Yep, to much hilarity he was waving a Bernard Matthews flag!

Needless to say, I forgot the buns at teatime!!
